AI vs. Italy Travel Planning (and a Zoom link for tonight)
If you can’t join us live, you can still send me your questions
Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of experiments with AI for travel planning. Not just to see how it might be helpful to self-planners, but also because uh…I need to know if ChatGPT will soon render me obsolete.
What I’ve discovered is that AI is pretty damn good for cutting to the chase when planning for the most popular destiantions. We’ve had information overload for a long time, and social media algorithms are creating a crisis of overtourism. But with a little context about a destination and a clear vision of what kind of experience you want to have, you can use the right prompts to eliminate the avalanche of bad information.
Buuuut there’s still a major gap.
AI is fantastic if you want a checklist trip, but not very helpful if you’re planning for lesser-known places.

These places have always been my specialty. And going forward, I’ll be focusing on them even more. I’m constantly exploring, asking questions, and following my curiosity. And when I find something, some place, or someone special, I’ll share it with you.
If that kind of travel speaks to you, and you want to ask me anything about planning a trip to Italy—or about a place that ChatGPT hasn't quite figured out yet—join me tonight for my monthly Ask Me Anything About Italy on Zoom for paid subscribers.
